Orientation/Foundation of Yoga Techniques

Topic 1: Asana Foundation and Adjustment (Beginner and Intermediate Level)
A unique course which introduces the different levels of classical, authentic system of yoga. The body is gradually and systematically prepared, leading from simple exercises to more advanced postures. Each level includes a deep relaxation, yoga postures, stretches and breath techniques, which promote the balance of the body, mind and soul.
Topic 2: Anatomy
Learn about the anatomy of the body to better understand safe and stable physical alignment in yoga poses. Pick up in depth knowledge to take to the mat to fine-tune and deepen your practice
Topic 3: Specialty Yoga
Learn about the many types of yoga being offered in modern times. seniors yoga, chair yoga.
Topic 4: Hatha Kriyas
Dive deeper into the meaning of Hatha Yoga. This category of yoga includes most yoga styles. It is an old system that includes the practice of asanas (yoga postures) and pranayama (breathing exercises), which help bring peace to the mind body and soul. This helps prepare the body for deeper spiritual practices such as meditation. The Kriyas to be learned and practiced are: Neti, Kapala Bhati Pranayama (cleansing the frontal sinuses), and Trataka (concentration on a point or candle flame).
Topic 5: Meditation & Pranayama
Meditation and Pranayama have a wonderful ability to soothe tensions, release trapped energy, and improve our sense of well-being. Proper breathing practice can be used for more than health and fitness, as it can become the basis of psychological and spiritual growth. As teachers, once we have taught the basics of breathing, we can instruct our students to use the energy and well-being generated by their practice to power their self-development. It is a journey to unfolding of your hidden potential, and to personal and spiritual growth. Topics covered: chanting, concentration techniques, visualization techniques and meditation.
Topic 6: Surya Namaskar and Khatu Pranam
Learn how to practice and teach the sequence of Sun Salutation (Surya Namaskar) on a chair or floor. Learn how to teach this to groups of all ages. Sun Salutation is a practice in modern yoga incorporating a sequence of twelve gracefully linked asanas. The asana sequence was first recorded in the early 20th century. The basic sequence involved moving from a standing position into Downward and Upward Dog poses and then back to standing. Variations will also be taught.
Topic 7: Bhagavad Gita & Sutras & Chakra Studies (Yoga Philosophy)
Integrate yoga philosophy from ancient texts in designing yoga classes.
Topic 8: Sarva Hitta, Restorative and General Yoga
Learn about restorative yoga and how to design your own classes in this modality. A restorative yoga sequence typically involves only five or six poses, supported by props that allow the body to completely relax and rest. These asanas are held for 5 minutes or more.
Topic 9: Four Paths of Yoga
Learn about the four paths of yoga: Karma Yoga (path of self-sacrifice), Bhakti Yoga (path of self-surrender), Raja Yoga (path of self-control), and Gyana Yoga (path of self analysis).
Topic 10: Yogic Way of Life
Learn the Sanskrit names of yoga asanas (postures). Study of general and fundamental concern such as existence, knowledge, matter, values, reason, mind and language. Learn the many helpful yogic habits that will help guide those interested in a more healthful life.
Topic 11: Business Practicum
Learn the fundamentals of running your own yoga business. Get insight on basic knowledge on business etiquette.
Topic 12: Master Of Yoga Techniques, Training and Practice Advanced Yoga: Proper Alignment meditation practice according to the scientifically designed Yoga in Daily Life system
Topic 13: Being an Ethical Yoga Teacher and Trainees Yoga
Philosophy/Lifestyle
Topic 14: Chakras and Kundlini. Learn about the main eight chakras or energy centers that lie within the body. Awaken these inner power centers.
Topic 15: Successfully understand where to draw the line between business and the real goal of yoga.
REQUIREMENTS FOR TRAINING:
Be at least 18 years of age.
Hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
Submit application fee of $500USD (applied towards tuition, non-refundable).
Complete Application for admission.
Candidates are evaluated for academic and physical ability and ability to manage time and meet financial obligations for tuition.
